Wwii Dday Vet Us Paratrooper Wings With 2 Combat Jump

I am listing a single wwii (united states) paratrooper wings manufactured by the english firm j. R. Gaunt & son ltd, london and 507th oval. The particular set was owned by a veteran of the normandy invasion. It was during the final moments of daylight late on the afternoon of 5 june 1944 that pathfinder chalk #14 lined up next to their aircraft for a few final photographs. Sgt eichlenberg of the 82nd airborne's 507th parachute infantry regiment would participate as a pathfinder jumping in long before the arrival of the main body of his regiment. Pictured within this listing are several photographs of the airborne wingsboth front and rear to serve as proof of their authenticity. Also included are photographs of the uniform jacket sleeve pathfinder wings, orders, an official us army signal corps version of the photograhp of chalk #14 and also a copywhere at a past reunion(before the majority of drinking began)the names of each man was hand-written in.

Sgt eichlenberg is pictured in the front row, kneeling, and 3rd from l with blackened face. Following the completion of the 507th's participation in the normandy campaign they returned to england. Shortly thereafter these wings weer fitted with the invasion arrowhead and a large bronze service star denoting individual participation in the d-day parachute assault. Notice the interesting wya the arrowhead and star were affixed to the rear portion of the wings (twisted) i've not seen this method used previously.

The wings are in remarkable condition and i'd consider them about as mint as possible given they are datableto at least â? Early 1944. I've attempted to include highly detailed pictures of both front and rear portions for serious bidders.

Genuine us airborne badges produced by jr gaunt during the mid-1940s are become more difficult to find each year, a badge such as the one featured here with two combat jump devices attached is nearly impossible to find. Again, at tihs time no other items pictured within the auction are for sale. God bless oru troops!
